Let those who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name my exult in you. (Psalm 5:11)
When suffering and threatened by enemies, what did David do? He praised God (v11). He’s not the only one. When three countries swarmed King Jehoshaphat, he did not attempt to enlist more soldiers or make alliances with other countries. He did not run. Instead, he fought by sending out the Praise Team. Sally Lloyd-Jones wrote, “When God’s children sing to him, it moves the heart of God and invites him into what’s happening-and chases the enemy away.” When anxiety festers within you and fear threatens your heart, instead of dwelling on those thoughts, pick up an instrument and praise Him. Turn on some praise music and sing to Him and experience the covering of God as He shields you from whatever may come (12).
