The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, (Psalm 18:2)
Yet again, David was in trouble. However, he did not let his circumstances define who God was. He defined his circumstances based upon how great God is. God is his rock. Dependable, safe and unchanging. When the Israelites thirsted for water in the desert, God provided water from a rock (Exodus 17). Jesus told a story of a person whose house endured a storm because it was built on the rock.
God was David’s rock, and God is our rock. The way we trust Him is by believing His word which is fully dependable (v30). When circumstances change around you. When things you once depend upon become unreliable. Trust in God who is unchanging. Feast on His word today and believe His promises.
