Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. (Psalm 23:4)
David related to God the way that sheep trusted in their shepherd. David was led by the Lord to places of abundance and restoration (v2) but also through hardship and even death.
In your life, perhaps you are questioning why things are the way there are. Or wondering if this current circumstance will be the new normal. You may feel like you are self-quarantining in the valley of the shadow of death. Although the Good Shepherd does not always take you around hardship, He promises to lead you through it. What this means is your suffering has an expiration date. And your destination is the house of the Lord. Forever.
So as you anticipate that day, take full of advantage of the valley you are in by leaning into the leadership, protection and instruction (rod and staff) of the Good Shepherd who is with you (v4).
