The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. (Psalm 29:10)
The psalm begins with an invitation to give praise to God for His glory, strength, holiness and great name (v1-2). David then details the glory of God’s voice, which is powerful (v5) and life-giving (v9). Sometimes the hardships in our lives seem to eclipse God’s greatness. There are few things more chaotic than a flood, where life is submerged and swept away. But David reminds us, that God is king over the flood (v10). If He has authority over all nature, then He also has the ability to give you strength and peace (v11) in your life right now, whether it’s subsiding the flood or causing you to persevere through it. So praise Him for His great power and receive His grace.
