READ PSALM 46

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10)

Life got crazy for the psalmist. The ground and the mountains, both pictures of stability, were being removed from their places. In those moments of chaos, one thing is certain: God is in control, and through it God will be exalted. He does not need glory from His creation in order to be God, but it is only fitting and right for glory to be given to Him who is the most Excellent One.

One of the ways He receive glory and praise is when His people experience Him as their safety and delight (v4-5). Simply trusting in God’s faithfulness and turning to Him in trouble honors God, like a father comforting his frightened children in the night. Earthly fathers are limited in their presence and ability, but God our Father is limitless. He is “a very present help in trouble.” Are you worried and afraid today? He’s right there with you. Turn to your Father, and rest in His everlasting arms.
