He will guide us forever (Psalm 48:14)
We all look for guidance sometime in our lives. During this pandemic, our community is looking to government officials to lead the way in protecting the people while seeking the overall flourishing of all. We hear the calls on social media and from our relative and friends for direction and leadership.
Although God has given governmental figures authority to rule and maintain order (Romans 13:1-4), we must remember that they are ultimately not our savior. Like the people of God in the Old Testament, we mistakenly seek ultimate comfort and safety from human leaders rather than God (1 Samuel 8:19-22). As we look to God as our ultimate leader, we can rejoice because his judgements are always right (v11).
