I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. (Psalm 52:8)

David went though many ups and downs in life. He had enemies turn to friends, and friends turn to enemies. He went from shepherd boy, to king, to exiled from his own kingdom only to return later after his son’s death.

Life has many twists and turn. Yet, one thing we can know will remain constant is the steadfast love of God. God loves His people in the low times of life where everything seems to be going wrong and He loves us at the high  points where everything around us seems to be flourishing. We can trust God’s faithful love in abundance and in pandemics. Through prosperity and persecution.

How can we know that God’s love for us is constant? Look to the cross. God did not spare His one and only Son, but gave Him up for us. That’s how committed He is. We can trust His love today, tomorrow and “forever and ever.” As we intake this love which the Holy Spirit pours into our hearts, He produces in us thankfulness to God and a patience to endure any hardship (v9).
