READ PSALM 53

There is none who does good, not even one. (Psalm 53:3)

The Bible shows us where we fall short, but then points us to our solution. In this psalm, it’s clear that no one has a perfect moral record as God alone is good. Our standard of goodness is so different from God’s standard. Apart from the gracious work of God, no one can understand or seek Him (v2). We would be lost in our sins if it were not for God bringing salvation to His people.

Paul quotes this psalm in Romans 3:10-12, pointing us to our need for the only good one, Jesus who took the punishment for our sins, so that we would be declared “good” in God’s sight because of Jesus’ perfect record. Lean into the righteousness and salvation that comes from Jesus, and in response, rejoice and be glad (v6)!
