Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation (Psalm 68:19)
Your trust in someone grows as you look at their track record. If they had a history of faithfulness and good deeds, you can have greater confidence that they can be trusted. In this psalm, David had confidence that God would carry His people every day. Not only in days of trouble but every day of their lives. David recounted God’s track record. He remembered God’s salvation, when He led His people out of Egypt and through the wilderness (v3-8). He recounted God’s power in providing victory for God’s people in the Promised Land (v11-18). If God was faithful to His people in the past, David can be sure that God will be faithful to him in the present.
On the other side of the Cross, we see God’s perfect track record as He brought the promised Messiah into the world at just the right time (Galatians 4:4).He sent the Holy Spirit to empower His people just when they needed Him (Acts 1:8). Because God was always with His people in the past, we can have confidence that He always carry us daily into the future. No matter what you are going through today, believe that God is holding you even though you cannot see Him.
