How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked? (Psalm 82:2)
In this heavenly council, God makes known His judgements on the gods (those given authority by the One True God). Although these spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12) are doing injustice they will be judged by the Most High (v7). No human nor spiritual being can overrule God. He will hold responsible all those whom God has given authority.
God has given you and I authority as well. It’s not like the authority that those mentioned in this psalm have, but authority in the workplace, in the school, in the neighborhood and homes. Our first ancestors used their authority to serve themselves when they ate from the tree they were told not to eat from, but Jesus used His authority to serve others and to give up His life as a ransom for many. In response to Jesus’ death and resurrection on our behalf, we use our authority to give justice to the oppressed, help those who are weak, and care for those who are in need. Who in your life can you serve with the love of Jesus with the position you have been gifted?
