Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? (Psalm 85:6)
Have you ever felt ashamed to come to God because your joy and enthusiasm for Him was dead? Perhaps it was your sin that dulled your desire for Him. Or living a distracted life that led to your heart straying from Jesus. The thought of returning to God again feels shameful, even hypocritical. Will God accept you if you bring to Him your weary, broken sinful heart? He will!
Follow the psalmist’s example. He comes to God asking Him to revive His people once again. You are not a hypocrite if you come to God lacking in joy and affection for Him. It is hypocritical if you pretend that you are passionate for Jesus when really you are not. A hypocrite is an actor. So no matter how far your feel from God or how much doubt you face, go to Him. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. “ Let Jesus’ invitation sink deep into your weary soul that is tired from chasing after empty things. Revive us again, that we may rejoice in You!
