READ PSALM 93

Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty! (Psalm 93:4)

If you’ve been to certain beaches over the past weeks, you’ve probably noticed the larger waves on our South Shores compared to a few months ago. Every now and then, I’ve seen ambulances provide aid to those battered by these waves. Now with hurricane season upon us, the thought of storms that generate massive waves is a greater reality. Waves can be terrifying and destructive.

Yet, God is mightier than the largest wave. He calms the mighty waters simply by speaking. What waves are crashing into your life right now? It’s probably not literal water, but maybe the waves of anxiety, fear of the future, depression and doubt continue to overwhelm you. Or the waves of financial hardship or relational pain keep you “under the water.” Re-read this psalm and ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to cling to God’s greatness and His word in your current circumstances.
