READ PSALM 117

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! (Psalm 119:103)

In the longest chapter in the Bible, Psalm 119 drips with the delight of God’s word. His word is described as riches (v14), wondrous (v18), counselors (v24), good (v39), comforting (v50), valuable (v72), sweet (v103), enlightening (v105), faithful (v138) and true (v142) to name some.

After intaking  His Word, some of our responses ought to be keeping (v5), storing (v11), declaring (v13), delighting (v14), believing (v66) and hoping (v74) in it.

Perhaps you sense your hunger and joy for His word has diminished. What should you do? Ask God to renew in you an awe-filled wonder for His Word (v18). Then drink deeply His word as ponder it day and night (meditate). May the Word become like sweet honey lighting up the eyes and satisfying your spiritual sweet tooth. May your pleasures in God grow as you experience with the psalmist “how sweet are (His) words to my taste!”
