READ PSALM 125

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore. (Psalm 125:2)

In some ways, being surrounded spells trouble: surrounded by enemies, trouble or disease. But in other ways, it is to our benefit that we are surrounded. The psalmist describes God surrounding His people as the mountains surround Jerusalem. What this means is there is nothing or no one that can touch your life unless they are allowed by the Lord.

Although God allows hardships and suffering into our lives, His promise to His people is that every single one of them is purposeful. He uses all things to shape us more into the image of Christ. So remain hopeful in whatever difficult circumstance you find yourself in whether that’s in the home, workplace or the inner turmoil in your heart. God is with you through it all, and He is preparing you to live with Him on His heavenly mount (v1).
